Best Toric Contact Lenses

What is the most comfortable, the best deal, and safest? Also, please tell me any experience you’ve had with any other toric/astigmatism contacts lenses.

Answer: The best brand of toric contact lenses to get are the ones that work the best for you. How’s that for an answer? You will ultimately find the best brand for you by trying a few different brands. Go with a name brand like Acuvue or CooperVision. Try those brands and see what other options you have.

More importantly than the brand of toric contact lenses is getting the right prescription. Toric lenses have to sit just the right way in your eye to work well. There’s a small weight at the bottom that keeps them in place and if it’s not set at the right angle, then you should keep working with your eye doctor to get the right setting. Once that happens, your contact lenses for astigmatism will work well for you. Be patient and you’ll get there with the help of your optometrist.

One brand that’s a standout is CooperVision. They have had some breakthroughs with toric contact lenses. Ask any eye doctor and if you have extreme astigmatism, they will point you in the direction of CooperVision toric contact lenses and probably either write you a prescription for them or get you some free samples – or both.

When dealing with astigmatism and toric contact lenses, you may have to go through several trial pairs to find the right settings where they will sit in your eye in the right place. These lenses are free since you are just trying different settings. Eventually, after a few pair, you and your doctor will find the settings that work well for you – so just keep at it.

With CooperVision toric contacts, what I’ve noticed, is that they stay in place well. They don’t slide around as much as they used to, so your vision does not get blurry as often. The only downside, which is not really a big deal, is that it might take the lens longer to get into place when you first put it in. Just know that once it’s in and in place, it’ll stay there and work really well.

It depends on a lot of things. The higer your astigmatism, the fewer choices you’ll have for brands of contacts. It also depends on the shape of your eye, if you have allergies or dry eyes, the tightness of your eyelids, etc. Your eye doctor should be able to choose the best lens for your eyes. That being said, MY favorite toric lenses are:
PureVision Toric — safest
SofLens66 Toric — little more comfortable
Vertex Toric — best deal
Most often, it’s in that order that I’ll try them on patients, again, depending on their eyes. If you have high powers of astigmatism, try the Frequency 55 ToricXR.
