For some occasions, you may need theatrical, Halloween or special effect contact lenses – also known as crazy contacts, creepy contacts, goth contacts or novelty contacts.
Special effects contacts are fun to wear and are available without an eye prescription although they should still be fitted by an eye care professional. Also, you cannot simply use an eyeglass prescription if you need corrective lenses – you will need to get a separate prescription for contact lenses. Be sure to ask for a copy of your contact lens prescription specifications so that you can order your special effects lenses.
Some popular special effect contact lens styles are:
- Vampire Red
- Blood Red
- Black Out Contact Lenses
- White Out Contact Lenses
- Cat Eyes
- Goblin Eyes
- Gremlin Eyes
- Reptile Eyes
- Dragon Eyes
- Frosty Eyes Contact Lenses
- Wild Eyes Contact Lenses
- Mirrored Contact Lenses
- Smiley Face Contacts
- Eight Ball Contacts
- Zebra
- Alien
Some types of special effects contacts (like the “Frosty Eyes” or “Blind Eye” kinds) are labeled as “no vision” which means once they are put in, the person wearing them cannot see. This is because they cover the pupil of your eye.. They are great for photo shoots but should not be worn out on the street or anywhere else.
Many people get special effects contact lenses to go with their Halloween costume. Having some crazy looking eyes can really put the finishing touch on a great and fun Halloween costume. Novelty Wildeyes color contact lenses are made of soft plastic that’s comfortable wear, fun and will surely attract attention. You can even have fun with these if it isn’t Halloween. Wear some to a party, for going out at night or even to a sporting event to cheer for your favorite team.
If you do need special effects contact lenses for Halloween or a theatrical production, be sure to order them far in advance. Many times, these special contacts can take weeks to make since they need to be fitted by an eye care professional and then be made.
If you buy some special effect contact lenses and are new to wearing contact lenses, then you should be sure that you take proper care of your contacts and learn the correct way of inserting and removing them.
Get movie industry quality contacts or theatrical quality special effects contact lenses at many retailers online. You will most likely not be able to get a free pair of special effects contacts but you should be able to find what you’re looking for at a great price online.

can you supply me with a trial pair of black out lenses please?
Black out contact lenses are special effect lenses. Another version of them are the circle contact lenses that make your pupils look huge (Japanese anime contact lenses). When you order these kind, make sure that you go to an eye doctor and get a prescription so that they fit properly. We don’t supply trials or samples of these lenses, unfortunately. You might have a tough time finding them. Most contact lens samples are for ordinary contact lenses or some colored contacts but usually not for special effect or Halloween contact lenses. If we find a place that has them, we’ll post that info here for you.
