Soflens Toric Contact Lenses for Astigmatism

in Toric Contact Lenses

Soflens Toric contact lenses are for people with astigmatism, who are unable wear regular contact lenses. Astigmatism is one of the most common vision problems and until recently, there were no contact lens options for those with astigmatism. Toric contact lenses are a great alternative to wearingglasses.

Soflens Toric contact lenses (formerly known as Soflens 66 Toric) are available for most astigmatism eye problems. Toric contact lenses have a curvature specifically designed for people with an astigmatism that includes either myopia (near sightedness) or hyperopia (far sightedness). After two week, they are disposed and replaced by a new pair. Toric contacts are very comfortable due to their 66 percent water content and thin design. In addition, the lenses are deposit resistant which avoids protein build up on the lenses while wearing them.

What is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism causes blurry vision, which is due to an irregular cornea shape or lens curvature within the eye. A normal cornea is shaped like a basketball, but an astigmatism has a football shaped cornea. This impedes light from focusing correctly on the retina or back of the eye. This creates blurry vision at either near or far distances. An untreated astigmatism can also cause headaches and irritated eyes.

Typically, an astigmatism is developed at birth and can be hereditary. As a child develops the astigmatism can become better or worse. Toric contact lenses correct astigmatism by changing the method that the eyes receive light. Another cause of astigmatism is incorrect posture that puts pressure on the cornea.

Toric contact lenses differ from regular contact lenses in several ways. They correct the spherical and cylindrical abnormalities. Toric contact lenses are specifically designed for consistent orientation regardless of eye movement. This is due to thickness at the bottom of the lens, which allows the contacts to self-adjust to the correct position when blinking.

Soflens Toric contacts have a slight blue tint or easy visibility when handling. The tint does not alter eye color or affect vision. There are marks on the bottom of the contacts to insure proper placement on the eye. Toric contact lenses are available in colors if you wish to change the color appearance of your eyes.

If you wish to change the color of your eyes and do not need a prescription, non-prescription colored contact lenses may be available. You can make your blue eyes brown or turn your brown eyes into green ones.  Make sure that the colored contact lenses are high quality and are a suitable fit to avoid eye irritation.

Consult your eye doctor to determine if Soflens Toric contact lenses are for you. They provide consistent clear vision with consistent comfort.
