Opaque contact lenses are made of solid tints such as hazel, blue, green, violet, amethyst and gray. These lenses do not allow any light to pass through them. They cover the entire colored surface of the eyes known as iris. You must be wondering how a person can see with an opaque contact lens. Even though one wears opaque contact lenses for cosmetic purposes, it requires a prescription by a qualified professional. This law is enforced by the US government in order to prevent the risk of vision damage due to improper usage of the contact lens.

Like any other contact lenses, opaque contact lenses also require regular care and maintenance. It is always better to ask the prescribing doctor about the appropriate disinfecting and cleaning products to be used with contacts.

I am sixteen years post craniotomy and have had double vision since. Each eye is correctablt to 20/20 (pre and post surgery) and wear a prescription lens over the right eye and just plastic over the left. Both eyes work fine, they are just pointed different ways from my brain surgeries. Is there a lense my doctor can prescribe and I can buy that blocks my vision in one of my eyes?

I would think that’s possible since they do make some special effect contact lenses for photo shoots that completely block out vision. You should contact your eye doctor to find out more.
