Color Contact Prices
Contact lenses have been gaining popularity for years now, but with new technology comes new options. Changing the color of your eyes used to be something only Hollywood could afford to do, but now, eye doctors, websites, and contact companies alike offer color contacts for anyone and everyone. The options are endless, and most prices reasonable.
There are now lenses that can change the color of your eye completely (i.e. blue eyes can be green, brown eyes can be purple, etc.) and there are no limits or bounds. Purple, blue, yellow, polka dot, and numerous others can take the place of your natural eye pigment, but it doesn’t stop there. You can purchase lenses that take your eyes in a completely new direction – cat eyes, complete blackouts, flames, targets, spiderwebs, and many other designs have found there way into people’s eyes in the last decade. These crazy designs tend to be more expensive, but they’re readily available to the public nonetheless, and gain popularity around Halloween.
How Much Do Color Contacts Cost? How Much are Yearly Colored Contacts?
Many people are asking us, “how much does colors contacts cost?” or “how much does colored contacts cost?” Those are good questions. Before you go and purchase them, you’ll want to know if you can afford them. Some people will want to wear them all the time, so the price and cost is definitely a factor.
In terms of prices, the biggest recommendation is to start with your local eye doctor or current contact lens provider. If you already have an account or are a current customer, you’ll have a better chance of finding a good price, and the doctor already knows your needs, prescription, and what lenses will best benefit your eyes. Colored lenses for astigmatism and other eye issues are available, but may be more expensive. Lens prices through your doctor will vary, depending on the brand, but most lenses tend to price in around the $30 range.
You also have to take into consideration what type of lenses you’re looking for – disposable, weekly, monthly, soft, etc. Soft lenses tend to be disposable, and the more often you dispose of them, the cheaper they are (but the more you have to buy).
Top brands like Acuvue, Air Optix, Clearsight, and Focus carry color lenses and theatrical lenses. Some offer the yearly vial- One lens per vial, intended for daily use, lasting a duration of a year. The lenses that come in vials (like Durasoft) are seemingly more expensive, but a better deal in the long run. They price in around $40-60, and you’re good for the whole year. The only downfall- if you lose or break them, you have to fork out another chunk of money, and you’ll be walking around with only one colored eye until the new lens arrives.
How Much Are Yearly Colored Contacts?
If you’re looking for monthly disposable contacts, you’re looking at about $30 per box of six lenses. Meaning, you’ll need four boxes to get through the year, ringing in at $120 by the time you’re done. The price difference may seem like a turn-off, but this type of lens has its benefits as well. They tend to be more comfortable and breathable, and in case of contact loss or rip, you have back ups. Also, the price to replace just one is much cheaper than ordering a yearly vial.
The lenses can be ordered through an eye doctor or online, and doing your research can pay off. Look into different brands, types, prices, and designs before you make your choice.
