How Long Will it Take to Adjust to Toric Eyeglasses?

in Toric Contact Lenses

I have toric contacts, which I wear without a problem. I have been wearing new glasses with toric lenses for 3 days and still feel uncomfortable. It feels like one eye is lagging behind and takes another second to focus. Why is this different than my contacts?

Glasses site farther from your eyes, so they will behave differently than contact lenses. If after 7 days, you’re still having problems then you should go see your eye doctor and get your prescription for your toric glasses checked. They should be working well for you and if not, then there could be a problem.

If you are wearing glasses with cylindrical correction for the first time it can take a bit of time to feel comfortable. They are different from toric contacts because they do not move with your eyes and you will not always be looking through the center and they sit further from your eyes which is definitely something to get used to if you’ve not worn glasses for some time.

If you shut one eye at a time and look through the center of the lens, they should be pretty good. If that is good, then it could be an adaption symptom. If you have switched between glasses and contacts for those three days, you may want to try a bit longer with the glasses and not switch.

If you’ve been wearing the glasses the whole three days, then go back to visit your dispenser and have the glasses checked to make sure they are fitted properly and dispensed as written.
