Vision in the Mail: Getting Free Samples of Contact Lenses

Your vision is paramount. If you wear contact lenses, you may be able to find free samples.

Many retailers will offer samples of their lenses on their websites. However, they may also offer them in magazines and publications as well. Often, all you have to do is fill out a form, and provide the prescription information for your current contact lens strength. If you have never worn contacts before, you should contact your optometrist or ophthalmologist before sending away for lenses. Some companies may ask you to pay the shipping and handling charge, which is often minimal. Some companies do not require you to pay the shipping fee. Also, be aware that some companies may ask for an actual copy of your contact lens prescription. You can easily fax this in.

Free Sample Contacts Sent to Your House

It may take a few weeks for your lenses to arrive. When you get them, check the packaging to make sure that you were sent the right lenses. These lenses should be sterile, but, if you are concerned, you can wash them in saline solution to ensure their sterility. Before you put the lenses in, read the manufacturer’s use and care instructions. Free samples of lenses will always be disposable. Be sure not to leave the lenses in for too long, as this can cause lens slippage or eye irritation. You should try wearing the lenses for a week or two before deciding if they are the right ones for you. If you decide to keep the lenses, order new lenses from the manufacturer, and dispose of the trial lenses. If you have glasses, wear them while you wait for your new lenses.

Trying different lenses is very beneficial. You can choose which type of lenses you prefer. Some are soft and flexible and some are firm. While the prescription will be the same no matter which contact you choose, however the feel and shape may often differ from company to company. Different lenses last different periods of time. So, by shopping around for lenses, you can also find the ones that will suit your replacement needs as well. When it comes to your vision, you should be discerning, and testing out different contact lens samples allows you to do that.

Your ophthalmologist or optometrist may only have one brand that he or she tends to use, but it may not be a brand you find yourself comfortable with. Testing samples will give you a better idea of what types of contact lenses are available, and if the lenses that your doctor provides really are the best lenses to suit your needs.

Be careful about overdoing it when testing lenses. As previously mentioned, you should test the lenses for one to two weeks. If you aren’t satisfied, don’t jump into testing the next pair of lenses immediately. This could irritate or even damage your eyes. Give yourself at least three days before trying a different brand. In that time, use your glasses if you have them. If not, use the lenses your doctor prescribed you, but only if it is absolutely necessary. You should ideally give yourself a break from lenses entirely if you intend to try multiple brands.

And if you’re thinking about getting Halloween contacts for your costume this year, you should make sure you see an eye doctor early enough so that your prescription can be processed and for your order to arrive. They will make a great addition to your costume and you’ll get compliments.
