However, some people want to try and buy contact lenses without prescriptions even though they need sight correction. Not only will the contact lenses not be fitted to your eye but you have no idea what strength you need and what kind of lens is suitable for your eyes.

The main reason that people want to get contacts without a prescription is if they know they need contacts but don’t want to pay for the eye check-up. Again, this definitely isn’t a good idea because you have no idea how much you I prescription may have changed in the last few years.

However, there are some legitimate reasons for wanting contact lenses without a prescription. For example if you want to use the lens not for corrective purposes but for changing the color of your eyes then you can do this without a prescription. However you need to be aware that the contacts should still be fitted to your eye by an optician because otherwise they can still cause the same problems as above.

While getting your eyes checked will cost money, you do need to do so to make sure that your eyes are healthy. Not only will you be able to find out whether the prescription for your eye is correct but you’ll also be safe in the knowledge that your eyes are healthy. While it is certainly possible to find places to buy contacts without prescriptions it is never a good idea to do so as you could end up damaging your eyes and you definitely won’t get the correction that you need. It’s never worth taking a risk with the help of your eyes just to save a few pounds on an eye appointment.
