For those of us not fortunate enough to retain 20/20 vision, we are left with the option of selecting between prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses. There is always the third option of corrective eye surgery, but unless you’re willing to pay for an operation with a four digit price tag, you’re going to have to stick with the first two choices. By most accounts, contact lenses are preferable over glasses. Contacts restore your vision without the problems associated with spectacles.
Most people who wear glasses say that they would look better without them. While this is a subjective issue, most feel that glasses hamper their appearance. Glasses also make it hard to put on other eye wear, such as shades. Most people wear sunglasses to complement their fashion, and having to wear glasses means they can’t wear anything else around their eyes. Contact lenses free up your eyes so you can make room for more appealing eye spectacles.
Glasses also create other inconveniences. How many times have you had to push your glasses up because it constantly fell below the bridge of your nose? If you wear glasses in the rain or during cold weather, then you know how easily it gets wet or fogged up. This means constantly removing it and wiping it on your shirt.
While nobody is suggesting that you throw your glasses away, know that contact lenses have proven to be a much more convenient alternative. Not only do you get your vision back, they are also much more lightweight and durable. They are worn directly on the eye so it doesn’t feel like you are seeing everything through a piece of glass. If you haven’t already made the switch, give it a try now. If you’ve been sticking to glasses for some time, you’ll be amazed at how much more clearly contact lenses make you see the world.
